Combining Engineering, Science, and Math, you can create software solutions to real-world problems

The emphasis of a BSc in Computer Science is on the mathematical and theoretical foundations for computing rather than specific technologies. This degree will give you the foundation to pursue some of the most lucrative and exciting careers. There are many opportunities available in a variety fields including robotics and computer gaming, virtual reality, computer vision media convergence, digital evolutionary computing, computer architecture, and more.

The computer science program is housed in the L3Harris Engineer Center. It has classrooms as well as high-tech, innovative lab spaces. This allows for cutting-edge research on a broad range of subjects. The labs include the Siemens Digital Grid Laboratory, and a 360-degree augmented virtual reality lab space.

You’ll be taught by faculty with international expertise in both fundamental and applied areas. You will have the opportunity to learn about phenomena related to computers and computation. This includes software (algorithms, data structures), hardware design (design of computers), and many other applications of computational thinking.

To be eligible for higher-level coursework, all computer science majors must pass a Computer Science Foundation Exam. Only UCF’s computer sciences program uses this test to validate its students. This exam tests your problem solving skills, algorithmic reasoning, abstraction, proofs, and language skills. Each semester, tests are conducted. The exam is a key component of student success. It is also a great way to build your resume and it is a key reason many industry partners want to hire computer science graduates.
