What’s QoS?

Traffic prioritization is done using Quality of Service (or QoS). This allows you to prioritize your network traffic for streaming or gaming. Background applications will not hog your bandwidth any longer, which is extremely useful. This allows you to have smoother gaming by prioritizing traffic towards your PC or console.

How do you adjust your QoS to improve gaming

If you want to prioritize gaming traffic, you will need to change a few settings. You can modify your QoS settings by following the steps below.

  1. Use your router/modem to connect to your internet browser.
  2. Enter http://192.168.0.1 to search the results by using the search bar. Once you have done that, you will be redirected on to a website which allows you to modify the settings of your modem.
  3. After the website opens, you will need to log in using your username and password. You will need to log in using your Administrator username. If you are unsure of your username or password, check the sticker on your modem.
  4. After logging in, you’ll be presented with many options. Choose ‘Advanced Settings’ from all the options.
  5. You’ll see a link titled “QoS” on the left side. Click it.
  6. From all the options, select the Upstream QoS tab. Once you have done this, click on “enable upstream QoS optimized for gaming”.
  7. You’ll then be asked to modify a few settings. These settings can be adjusted according to your preferences and needs.
  8. After you have finished setting up the settings, click on Apply to save your changes.

Following the above steps will allow you to have a better gaming experience. There will be no network traffic or interferences to contend with. Your traffic will be prioritized to your PC or console. This means other devices, such as bandwidth-hogging apps, won’t have the ability to interrupt your enjoyment.
